At The Blue Table

This zine offers an invitation into the stillness that comes from the inherent space-time of observational drawing – focus, attention, imagination and the play of colour – and how they might offer us a reminder of what we can experience beyond language, together, in the quiet but active experience of holding pencil to paper and feeling where attention leads us. Days are where we live*. At the Blue Table is a gathering of Hannah Waldron’s sketchbook drawings made over the course of a year, observing daily life at the blue kitchen table at home with family. Drawn with soft coloured pencil on semi-transparent cream paper, seasonal flower cuttings from her dye garden at her allotment intermingle with portraits of her children sitting with her at the table, often immersed in their own creative activities, the paper ephemera of which make their presence felt, caught between the spreads of drawings. *See Philip Larkin’s Days
