ycn live visual relay
I took part in the second leg of the visual relay organised by YCN thats taking place in the Nike Pop up shop, and created a large painting 'inspired by sport' during the course of the day I spent there. I was thinking about the textures of sports equipment, and drew various sports nets chasing balls, maybe this is what happens in gyms when no one is looking, I'd like that.

Whilst I was working on that, Alex Bettler was also in the space creating a typographic light installation featuring a soundtrack too, i recommend you going to see it. Look at this site too www.reflect-please.com/

'Jayne among the Birds' at Tatty Devine

Thursday 26th June saw the opening of the 'Jayne among the birds' exhibition at Tatty Devine, Brick Lane by the brilliant Susanna Edwards with photography by Luke Stephenson. This show was the result of the event that happened on May 10th 2008 which Susanna curated called 'Best Budgerigar & Foreign Bird competition', which was the re-enactment of an event of the same name which took place in 1959 in which Jayne Mansfield was guest of honour so Susanna dressed as Mansfield and there was an actual real life budgie competition as well as various artists/designers who made budgie related work. I was one of them, I made a screen print called 'Budgies for Sale' and I was part of a group project with Danny Sturgess, Andy Forshaw and Bradley Evans with 2 screen prints which come in a pack called 'Best Aviary'. It was a really fun day. Also I won a prize! I won 'best human dressed as bird'...ok maybe I was the only person in the running but still...pretty exciting to win.
The show at Tatty Devine features photography of the Best Budgerigars, and other work. Please go have a look, and look out for the beautiful Rob Ryan jewellry.
